    Foley adds experienced Real Estate Attorney Joel Solomon

    Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Joel C. Solomon has joined the firm’s Real Estate Practice as of counsel in the Chicago office. Prior to joining Foley, Solomon was general counsel with ST Residential, LLC.

    Solomon has extensive experience in a wide range of real estate matters, including project development and management, work outs and restructuring, foreclosure, litigation and bankruptcy, and loan originations. In his previous position as chief legal officer of ST Residential, Solomon directed all legal issues stemming from the $4.5 billion public-private partnership between the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and a consortium of private equity investors, including Starwood Capital, TPG, Richard LeFrak and Richard Perry Capital. He managed more than 40 large commercial foreclosures and deed in lieu transactions, all legal matters for approximately 45 for sale condominium projects and all aspects of portfolio litigation, while also directing the company through multiple complex bankruptcies.

    Much Shelist promotes O'Hara, Shaw to equity principal

    Chicago-based law firm Much Shelist recently announced the elevation of Martin J. O'Hara and Michael B. Shaw from principal to equity principal.

    Martin J. O'Hara serves as vice chair of the firm's Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice group. He has over two decades of experience in commercial litigation and defense of professionals in malpractice actions. O'Hara received a J.D. from John Marshall Law School and a B.A. from Illinois State University.

    Michael B. Shaw, co-chair of the firm's Business & Finance practice group and head of the Private Equity group, counsels clients ranging from large proprietorships and companies to start-ups and other smaller privately held companies. He received a J.D. (cum laude) from Northwestern University School of Law, an M.B.A. in Finance, Accounting and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a B.A. with honors in Economics from Northwestern University.

    Nabilah Irshad joins Johns Marino LLP

    Johns Marino LLP has announced that Nabilah F. Irshad joined the firm as an associate.

    Irshad will work with Partners Frank A. Johns and Layne C. Marino in handling litigation and transactional matters for business clients.

    She is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law. After law school, she worked as a judicial clerk in Iowa and at the city of Chicago Law Department.

    She is licensed to practice in Illinois and Iowa.

    John George leads team from Daley & George to Schuyler, Roche & Crisham

    Schuyler, Roche & Crisham, P.C. this week welcomed one of the Chicago area’s most highly respected real estate, land use and zoning legal teams to its ranks with the addition of John J. “Jack” George (shareholder), Chris A. Leach (partner) and Kathleen A. Duncan (Associate), all formerly of Daley & George.

    Richard Flood promoted to attorney with Kelley Kronenberg

    Kelley Kronenberg, a nationwide full-service law firm, has announced that Richard Flood has been promoted to an Attorney with the firm’s Chicago office. Mr. Flood was formerly a law clerk with the firm, and will focus his practice on the defense of claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Act and the Defense Base Act (DBA).

    In 2012, Mr. Flood published “Inferring Race by Using Ancestry Informative Markers: (AIMS) as a Forensic Technique in the Courtroom” in the Criminal Law Bulletin. While in law school, he worked as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Jeremy Fogel of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California.

    Mr. Flood received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from Louisiana State University. He then obtained his law degree from University of California, Davis. While in law school, he served as the Articles Editor for the UC Davis Law Journal.  He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

    Schmack elected State's Attorney in DeKalb County

    Richard Schmack was elected DeKalb County State's Attorney on November 6, 2012. 

    Richard received his undergraduate degrees in History and Political Science from North Central College in 1977, his J.D. from the University of Illinois Law School, in 1980, and has been an attorney in Illinois since that time. He was an Assistant State' Attorney in DeKalb County from 1985 - 1989, served as the Village Attorney for Kirkland, and has been in private practice since 1989 in Sycamore.

    He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the DeKalb County Bar Association.

    Richard and his wife of 27 years, Jackie, live in Sycamore with their two adult sons, Eric, 25, and Ben, 23.

    Frost opens law firm in Spring Valley

    Jacob J. Frost has formed a new law practice in Spring Valley. He serves individual and corporate clients with expertise in estate planning, real estate, elder law, banking, business, and other fields.    

    Mr. Frost is a double graduate of University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana; he received his Juris Doctorate in 2006 and his B.A. in Political Science in 2003. He also received his A.A., summa cum laude, in 2001 from Illinois Valley Community College. He is active in the Illinois State Bar Association Trusts & Estates Section Council and has served as co-chairman of its Newsletter Committee for a number of years.

    Michele M. Jochner Joins Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP

    Ruth M. Degnan has also joined the firm as an associate. She is a recipient of the JVR Award for Trial Lawyer Excellence as result of her involvement in a case which resulted in the largest settlement of a psychiatric malpractice case in Illinois.
