Joseph “Jody” V. Toohill, Jr. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, February 29, 2016.
He was born in Peoria, IL, September 30, 1942, the son of Joseph, Sr. and Juanita (Taggert) Toohill. They preceded him in death.
He married Diane L. Myers on September 16, 1967 Canton, IL. She survives along with 3 daughters: Sarah Elizabeth Borkowski (Michael) of Inverness, IL. Kathleen Anne Palmer (Jeff) of Washington, IL., and Jennifer Jean Currey (John) of Savoy, IL, 6 grandchildren: Jacob Palmer, Alexandra Palmer, Isabelle Borkowski, Victoria Borkowski, Matthew Currey, and Kathryn Currey, 2 sisters: Judith A. Toohill of Farmington and Jeanne C. Flaherty of Gulfport, FL.

The Illinois Supreme Court has appointed James R. Mendillo of Belleville to serve as the Chair of the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission (ARDC). The ARDC is the Supreme Court agency that investigates allegations of lawyer wrongdoing in Illinois. His appointment was effective on January 1, 2016. Mr. Mendillo will preside over the next Commission meeting, set for April 15, 2016.
Mr. Mendillo is a partner in the Belleville firm of Freeark, Harvey, and Mendillo, PC. He is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and Missouri.

Mr. Roberts concentrates his practice in complex civil and criminal litigation, government relations and gaming law. Before joining Hinshaw he held several high-level federal and state government positions. These include: U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois; Chief Legal Counsel to Illinois Governor Jim Edgar; and State’s Attorney of Sangamon County. He also served as counsel to the Minority Caucus of the Illinois House of Representatives Special Investigative Committee, which returned an Article of Impeachment against then Governor, Rod Blagojevich, in January 2009.

Van Winkle and his wife, Lois, of Dahlgren; his daughter, Theodora Ann Barenholtz and her husband, Jan, of Fairfield, Connecticut; six grandchildren, Adrienne E. Van Winkle and her fiancé, Seth T. Bridge of Washington D.C., Jonathan L. Van Winkle of Dahlgren, Michael J. Bassi, of Covington, Kentucky, Daniel Barenholtz of Fairfield, Connecticut, Lt. David Barenholtz and his wife, Claire, of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Jonathan Thomas of Mount Vernon; and one great-granddaughter, Kori Thomas. He is also survived by his younger brother, Phil J.
