    Krieg DeVault announces partnership of Mark W. Bina

    Krieg DeVault is pleased to announce that attorney Mark W. Bina has been named Partner at the firm.  Mr. Bina joined the Krieg DeVault as an Associate in 2008 and is a member of the firm's Litigation, Health Care, and Employment Practice Groups.

    “As Mark’s mentor, I have had the privilege of observing his development as he has become one of the finest and most conscientious young attorneys I have had the pleasure to work with,” said  Randall R.     Mr. Bina, a graduate of The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, is a recent recipient of the 2013 Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service which is awarded by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.

    Mr. Bina represents a broad range of clients in litigation and regulatory matters. In his health care practice, Mr. Bina represents clients facing governmental investigations and prosecutions, Medicare and Medicaid false claim qui tam actions and payment disputes, license and disciplinary matters, administrative review appeals of governmental agency decisions, and general litigation disputes. Mr. Bina’s practice also includes employment law, appeals, creditors’ rights, and commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts.

    Loeb & Loeb names Douglas Masters Chicago Office Head

    Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that partner Douglas N. Masters, one of the founding partners of the firm’s Chicago office, has been named Chicago Office Head.  He will succeed partner Elizabeth Majers, who has served in this role since early 2012 and will be retiring from the practice of law at year-end. 

    Masters’ responsibilities as Chicago Office Head will include general oversight of the office, and working with firm management to grow the firm’s presence in Chicago, a key market for the firm, and expand its services and capabilities throughout the region.

    Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP welcomes three associates, including two who were recently sworn in to the Illinois Bar.

    Sarah A. Ferrill joins the firm from Salvi Schostok & Pritchard P.C., where she was also an associate. Ms. Ferrill focuses her practice on Medical Negligence and Healthcare and General Trial Practice. She received her J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 2008 and her B.S. from Bradley University in 2005.

    Brittany L. Kaspar focuses her practice on Medical Negligence and Healthcare, Commercial Litigation and Business Disputes, and Product Liability. Ms. Kaspar received her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2013 and her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010.

    Steven L. Vanderporten focuses his practice on Commercial Litigation and Business Disputes, Employment Litigation and Counseling, and Product Liability. Mr. Vanderporten received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2013, and his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009.

    Firm to honor founding partner Ronald Klein with retirement party

    The law firm of Klein, Stoddard, Buck & Lewis, LLC announces the retirement of their founding partner, Ronald G. Klein. Mr. Klein will remain with the firm in his “Of Counsel” status, but at the conclusion of 2013 he will retire from fulltime practice.

    On November 14, 2013, Mr. Klein was recognized as a Distinguished Counselor by the Illinois State Bar Association for Fifty Years of service in the practice of law. He has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in DeKalb County, serving local farmers, families, businesses, banks, and organizations in a wide variety of areas. His professional accomplishments include first president of the DeKalb County Community Foundation, founding member of the DeKalb County Estate Planning Council, first president of the NIU Friends of the Library, and leadership in a many more charitable and professional organizations.  He retires with a long-standing “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbel, the highest rating available for an attorney.

    There will be an Open House to honor Mr. Klein on December 6, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the DeKalb County Community Foundation’s Freight Room in Sycamore. All are welcome to stop by and share a memory with Ron.

    Christina L. Talamonti joins Kelley Kronenberg’s Chicago Office

    Kelley Kronenberg, a national full-service law firm, announced the addition of Christina L. Talamonti to its Chicago law office.

    Talamonti joins the firm as an attorney and focuses her practice on the defense of claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Act and the Defense Base Act (DBA), as well as Employer Liability, General Maritime and General Insurance Defense matters. Most recently, Ms. Talamonti worked for a Chicago law firm handling Employment Law and Liability, General Premises Liability, Insurance Coverage Litigation, Toxic Tort Defense, and General Insurance Defense matters.

    Ms. Talamonti received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and earned her juris doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law.     Durcan joins Carmen D. Caruso Law Firm as Of Counsel

    Experienced Chicago commercial litigator, Christopher Durcan, joins the Carmen D. Caruso Law Firm. Durcan will be Of Counsel with the Firm and will work with Carmen Caruso and the other members of the Firm on a variety of cases as he grows his commercial litigation practice.
