The Illinois Supreme Court announced today that the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit judges voted to select ISBA Assembly member Thomas A. Else and Anthony V. Coco as associate judges of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit. Mr. Else received his undergraduate degree in 1979 from Elmhurst College, and his Juris Doctor in 1982 from DePaul University. Mr. Else is currently engaged in solo practice in Wheaton. Mr. Coco received his undergraduate degree in 1990 from Indiana University and his Juris Doctor in 1993 from Chicago Kent. Mr. Coco is currently affiliated with the DuPage County Public Defender’s Office in Wheaton.

Chief Judge Stephen J. Culliton has announced that four finalists have been selected to fill the vacancies created by the election of Judge Dorothy F. French and Judge Ronald D. Sutter to circuit judge. From these names, the circuit judges will select two appointees by secret ballot:

Chief Judge Stephen J. Culliton released the names of people who have applied for the Office of Associate Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit of Illinois, DuPage County. Two vacancies were created by the election of Associate Judges Dorothy F. French and Ronald D. Sutter as Circuit Judges. As part of the review process of applicants for the Office of Associate Judge, Chief Judge Culliton invites public comment by letter. All letters must be received on or before Nov. 30, 2010. Chief Judge Stephen J. Culliton is accepting applications for two anticipated vacancies resulting from the upcoming Nov. 2 election. The vacancies are anticipated to occur upon the elections of Associate Judges Dortohy F. French and Ronald D. Sutter, who are running unopposed in the general election for Circuit Judge. These vacancies are contingent upon certification by the Illinois Board of Elections of general election results declaring French and Sutter the winners. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Nov. 3, 2010. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, licensed to practice law in this state and a resident of DuPage County. Robert G. Gibson was sworn in on Monday as a Circuit Court Judge for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court in Wheaton. He will assume his duties on Aug. 2. Mr. Gibson will be assigned to the Chancery Division where his call will consist of Forcible Entries, non-commercial foreclosures and other matters as assigned. Mr. Gibson graduated from the University of Illinois Law School in 1983. He was a partner with the law firm of Dommermuth, Brestal, Cobine and West for 27 years.

The Illinois Supreme Court has appointed Robert G. Gibson as Circuit Judge in DuPage County. Gibson replaces the Hon. Perry R. Thompson, who is retiring. The appointment is effective Aug. 2 and terminates on Dec. 3, 2012.
