The Illinois Bar Foundation honored Judge William Bauer and ISBA Past President Ralph Gabric (posthumously) with the DuPage County Beacon of the Profession Honorary Fellows Award on Friday, April 23. The DuPage County Fellows Chapter hosted this reception at Maggiano's Little Italy in Naperville.

The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts announced Friday that the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit judges voted to select Michael A. Wolfe as an associate judge of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit. Mr. Wolfe received his undergraduate degree in 1981 from Marquette University, and his Juris Doctor in 1984 from John Marshall in Chicago. Mr. Wolfe is currently affiliated with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office in Wheaton.

Chief Circuit Judge Stephen J. Culliton is pleased to announce that two finalists for the Office of Associate Judge have been selected and certified by the Illinois Supreme Court. The finalists are seeking to fill the vacancy created by the elevation of Associate Judge Daniel P. Guerin to Circuit Judge. The Circuit Judges will select the appointee by secret ballot. Scott M. Hardek received his J.D. from the Law School at the University of Notre Dame in 1990. He is currently a partner with the law firm of Dykema Gossett in Lisle. Michael A. Wolfe received his J.D. from the John Marshall Law School in 1984. He is currently the Chief of the Criminal Division of the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.

Chief Circuit Judge Stephen J. Culliton has announced that the Court has appointed Jeffrey R. York to the position of Public Defender for DuPage County. Mr. York has been serving as the Interim Public Defender for DuPage County since November of 2009. He began his career with the DuPage County Public Defender's Office as an Assistant Public Defender in 1997 and was promoted to Public Defender in 2000. He became a Supervising Assistant Public Defender in 2006 and Deputy Public Defender in 2007. Mr. York is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law (1996) and was admitted to the practice of law in the same year. His professional memberships include the Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage County Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Chief Judge Stephen J. Culliton announced that the Court is accepting applications to fill the vacancy for the Office of Associate Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit of Illinois, DuPage County. The vacancy is a result of the elevation of Associate Judge Daniel P. Guerin to Circuit Judge. Applications to fill this vacancy will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Jan. 14, 2010. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, licensed to practice law in this state, and a resident of DuPage County. Two original applications, submitted on the prescribed application form, must be filed with: Cynthia Y. The 18th Judicial Circuit Court in DuPage County is seeking volunteers for its Court Friends program. The program, established in 1996 insures that disabled adults, the elderly and those afflicted with mental/physical challenges are not neglected by caregivers or guardians. The Court Friends Program is overseen by Associate Judge Thomas C. Dudgeon. Volunteers may be asked to review court records, update files and/or interview individuals. Short reports are then processed by the volunteers for the courts' review. Interested persons are encouraged to stop by the Volunteer Recruitment Fair which will be held at Cantigny Park, 1 S 151 Winfield Road, Wheaton between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, to sign up for the program. Volunteers may also apply by calling Caryl Doty at (630) 407-8831.
