The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts announced Friday that the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit judges voted to select Michael A. Wolfe as an associate judge of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit. Mr. Wolfe received his undergraduate degree in 1981 from Marquette University, and his Juris Doctor in 1984 from John Marshall in Chicago. Mr. Wolfe is currently affiliated with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office in Wheaton.

Chief Circuit Judge Stephen J. Culliton has announced that the Court has appointed Jeffrey R. York to the position of Public Defender for DuPage County. Mr. York has been serving as the Interim Public Defender for DuPage County since November of 2009. He began his career with the DuPage County Public Defender's Office as an Assistant Public Defender in 1997 and was promoted to Public Defender in 2000. He became a Supervising Assistant Public Defender in 2006 and Deputy Public Defender in 2007. Mr. York is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law (1996) and was admitted to the practice of law in the same year. His professional memberships include the Illinois State Bar Association, the DuPage County Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Chief Judge Stephen J. Culliton announced that the Court is accepting applications to fill the vacancy for the Office of Associate Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit of Illinois, DuPage County. The vacancy is a result of the elevation of Associate Judge Daniel P. Guerin to Circuit Judge. Applications to fill this vacancy will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Jan. 14, 2010. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, licensed to practice law in this state, and a resident of DuPage County. Chief Circuit Judge Stephen J. Culliton has announced two finalists for the Office of Associate Judge in the 18th Circuit Court. The finalists are seeking to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Associate Judge Mark W. Dwyer. The circuit judges will select one of the following appointees by secret ballot.

• Brenda M. Carroll, J.D.-Chicago Kent College of Law, 1986. Ms. Carroll currently serves of the Director of the DuPage County Bar Association Legal Aid Service.
• Robert A. Miller, J.D.-Drake University School of Law, 1987. Mr. Miller is currently the Chief Public Defender for DuPage County.
